Our Co-Founder, Karen Galeano was born and raised in Nicaragua before relocating to the US. Since 2019, she has had the privilege of travelling back to her homeland to provide toys, school supplies, and months' worth of non-perishable goods to children in need. She built relationships locally with churches in the provinces where she was raised. What began as an innate need to give back to her community became a yearly mission that felt she was compelled to fulfill. Her ultimate goal was to expand the number of youths she was able to impact on a broader scale. In 2022, she met our Co-Founder, Kaleigh Williamson, and they immediately connected with a similar internal drive to contribute to those that haven't been as fortunate. Kaleigh had recently visited Nicaragua and established a relationship with local families. In building this rapport with the locals, she was quickly able to discern the disadvantages the communities around her faced. Arriving back home with this new found knowledge of the territory and feeling responsible for change, she wanted to help and wasn't quite sure how. With her will to serve and Karen's lifelong apprehension of local folkway and prior contributions, they felt they could become the ultimate duo. With both founders having successful businesses under their belt, and a joint interest in knowing help was needed, they founded the KNK Youth Foundation. The empathy and desire to selflessly serve those less fortunate, yet so deserving -- was ultimately the driving force in their partnership.
